Mr. Billy Ferrell was raised in Natchez, Mississippi. He dropped out of high school during his junior year to support his family through the Depression. He served in Europe during WWII and participated in the Allied invasion of Europe in 1944. When he returned to Natchez, he worked in the post office and in 1953 began his long career with the Adams County sheriff's office. He served as sheriff from 1960-1964 and 1968-1988.
